Nieuwpoort, Belgium-based MARELEC is launching virtual showrooms featuring the firm’s next generation food processing solutions in an effort to continue engaging protein suppliers from afar.

The company, which develops portion-cutters, graders, industrial weighing, marine, flow scales, and production management software, said the showroom allows “customers and prospects to visit a factory in full operation, equipped with only MARELEC Processing Solutions.”

There are different showrooms for different industries, including seafood, MARELEC said in a press release. Virtual showroom visitors use their cursor to travel throughout the plant, clicking on the various equipment and machinery to access a list of specifications and features.

“By visiting the showrooms, you walk around the factory and you take all your time to look at the application that will bring extra profit to your operation,” MARELEC said. “You decide where to go and what to see in detail by clicking and dragging the cursor through the plant. All machines are in operation with products. On each line, you can click to open the machines and see the features and options on the inside. More application videos can be watched and you see the top view of the line and consult the technical data sheet.”

In the fish showroom, guests can observe weighing and grading solutions for whitefish, salmon, aquaculture, lobsters, prawns, and more, MARELEC noted. Among the solutions highlighted in the fish showroom is PORTIO, which optimizes “the yields and increases value by cutting to the target weight, without waste,” the firm explained.

There is also a marine showroom, focusing on the grading and processing of fish aboard vessels.

“Grading and processing of fish on board of the vessel gives a competitive advantage. To make profit on board, you can see the MARELEC marine weighing technology in the marine showroom. The high-tech, yet robust weighing and grading technology compensates for the movement of the vessel and guarantees fast and accurate weighing in sometimes rough conditions. You will be able to see the MARELEC Intelligent Vision that detects different species and grades accordingly,” the company said.

In February, MARELEC formed a strategic collaboration with Scanvaegt Systems, a Aarhus, Denmark-based maker of weighing scales and systems, portion-cutters, grading and sorting systems, labeling solutions, x-ray equipment, IT systems, and traceability solutions. Effective as of 1 February, the collaboration allows the companies to offer a larger product list of processing and automation solutions.

“We see a number of similarities between Marelec and Scanvaegt. They are comparable in size and they have the same professional approach to customers,” Marelec Co-Owner and Director Piet Rommelaere said earlier this year. “They can open the market for us in Scandinavia and they have a competent and well-developed service network all over Europe that can add an extra dimension to our range of products. In addition, we know them already from the collaboration concerning the marine sector in Denmark. A collaboration that has been good. Therefore, I look forward to contributing to offering the best service to the market and I am very pleased with the new formalized collaboration.”
