Marelec, Scanvaegt Systems form strategic collaboration
Seafood processing solutions firms Marelec and Scanvaegt Systems have formed a strategic collaboration.
Nieuwpoort, Belgium-based Marelec produces portion-cutters, graders, industrial weighing, marine, and flow scales, and production management software. Scanvaegt Systems, headquartered in Aarhus, Denamark, makes and sells weighing scales and systems, portion-cutters, grading and sorting systems, labeling solutions, x-ray equipment, IT systems, and traceability solutions. It operates subsidiaries in Norway, Sweden, Germany, and Poland, and is owned by Grundtvig Invest A/S.
“We are pleased that this strategic collaboration has become a reality and we look forward to being able to offer the market and our many customers in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Finland, and Austria new optimized solutions that support the changed needs of the market, both with our direct customers and with consumers,” Scanvaegt Systems CEO Jan Elgaard said.
The collaboration, effective 1 February, will allow the companies to offer a larger product list of processing and automation solutions. The move will create greater value and improve the competitiveness of both companies, they said in a joint press release.
“We see a number of similarities between Marelec and Scanvaegt. They are comparable in size and they have the same professional approach to customers,” Marelec Co-owner and Director Piet Rommelaere said. “They can open the market for us in Scandinavia and they have a competent and well-developed service network all over Europe that can add an extra dimension to our range of products. In addition, we know them already from the collaboration concerning the marine sector in Denmark. A collaboration that has been good. Therefore, I look forward to contributing to offering the best service to the market and I am very pleased with the new formalized collaboration.”
