Chicken of the Sea partners with McCormick on grab-and-go products
Catering to Americans seeking healthy, high-protein foods on the go, Thai Union Group-owned Chicken of the Sea is adding more flavored grab-and-go tuna products.
The El Segundo, California, U.S.A.-based shelf-stable seafood giant is launching three Chicken of the Sea Wild Caught Tuna packets in partnership with McCormick seasonings, as well as three Chicken of the Sea tuna and salmon flavors.
New flavors include: McCormick Lemon Garlic, Thai Kitchen Sweet & Spicy, McCormick Dill Tuna Salad, Light Tuna in Spring Water Packet, Everything Bagel Seasoning Salmon Packet, and Maple Smokehouse Salmon Packet.
“Through research, we know consumers prefer citrus, creamy, or spicy taste profiles, and we wanted to deliver something for everyone," Chicken of the Sea Director of Marketing Griffin Raasch told SeafoodSource. “Partnering with McCormick to bring these to life made perfect sense – we took fan favorites and put a unique twist on them.”
Meanwhile the company’s Wild Caught Light Tuna packets are its first seasoned tuna offerings available in a packet
“It’s a format that’s perfect for our consumers’ busy lives,” Raasch said. “Our goal was to deliver deliciously flavored, ready-to-eat lean protein for those looking to fuel their healthy lifestyle no matter the meal occasion.”
Additionally, Chicken of the Sea is expanding its already successful salmon packet lineup with Everything Bagel Seasoning and Maple Smokehouse flavored products.
“We’ve seen strong sales growth in recent years, with a 6 percent lift in dollars over the past year for our salmon packets, showing that consumers are becoming more aware of our delicious, convenient salmon offerings and turning to Chicken of the Sea for more than just tuna,” Raasch said.
Suggested retail prices on the packet products are USD 1.69 (EUR 1.61) each, while the Everything Bagel Seasoning packet retails for USD 1.99 (EUR 1.90) each and the Maple Smokehouse retails for a suggested USD 3.49 (EUR 3.33) each.
Chicken of the Sea entered the grab-and-go market in 2020, when it launched its Infusions line of flavored tuna in on-the-go cups with a fork built into the lid.
