Willem van der Pjil, who founded the Seafood Trade Intelligence Portal (STIP) in 2013, has formed a new consultancy aimed at the shrimp sector.

Utrecht, the Netherlands-based Shrimp Insights will offer market research, market entry strategy, matchmaking, data and value-chain analysis, boardroom advisory services, and public speaking.

Van der Pijl left STIP in January 2020 after growing it to have EUR 300,000 (USD 338,000) in annual turnover.

“I am looking forward to diving deep into the industry again,” he said.

Shrimp Insights will offer independent consultancy to companies, investors, nonprofits, and government agencies.

“Whether it is with a PowerPoint deck, well-written report, presentation, pressure cooker session, or more long-term strategic advisory, I would love to support you to improve the performance of your activities in the shrimp industry,” van de Pijl said.

Van der Pijl, who created ShrimpTails magazine and served as its editor-in-chief for two years, has begun two new publications focusing on the shrimp sector: the “Shrimp Insights Report Series” and “The Shrimp Blog.” The first Shrimp Insights Report Series will be published in the third quarter of 2020, focusing on the global shrimp broodstock market. The Shrimp Blog will be published every month and will cover the global shrimp industry.

“After a short break, I have come to the conclusion that there is still too much to do in the shrimp industry to leave it behind,” van der Pjil said in a statement. “I enjoy providing … insights that support … decisions that contribute to a sustainable and profitable shrimp industry. It is my passion to connect people and build partnerships that can bring positive change to our industry.”
