US imports more shrimp for less money

The United States imported 94,623 metric tons (MT) of shrimp in the first two months of this year, an increase of 5.5 percent year-on-year, according to the latest statistics from NOAA Fisheries.

India was the U.S. market’s No. 1 supplier during this period with 18,472 MT, followed closely by Indonesia with 18,447 MT and Ecuador with 12,958 MT.
