Efficient and reliable traceability is fundamental to achieving sustainable seafood. But achieving full traceability in the globalized seafood sector presents significant challenges, especially to companies situated in the middle of complex supply chains. This panel discussion focuses on new standards and innovative industry practices that are helping meet these challenges while opening a new chapter for seafood traceability worldwide.

Sea Pact – a precompetitive platform that unites ten leading North American seafood companies – is committed to promoting sustainable and responsible seafood. The Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability is an international B2B initiative that has recently released the first-ever global industry standards to support “interoperable and verifiable” traceability. In this session, panelists discuss how Sea Pact companies and GDST are working collaboratively for traceability that promotes responsible sourcing, enables informed consumers, and makes seafood more competitive in the broader protein market through improved traceability.

This presentation was a part of the Seafood2030 Virtual Sustainability Forum | Aligning Industry and Government Sustainability Efforts, which took place from 9-10 September 2020.  For more information on Seafood2030 and/or to access additional program content, visit SeafoodSource.com/Seafood2030.
