Shirakiku Udon noodles recalled

Santa Fe Springs, California, U.S.A.-based Wismettac Asian Foods is recalling its Shirakiku brand Ajhei Sanuki Udon Noodles over concerns they contain undeclared fish, specifically skipjack tuna.

The recall covers all lot codes and date codes for the company's 19.04-ounce packages of Shirakiku brand Ajhei Sanuki Udon Noodles. The product being recalled was distributed in the U.S. states of California, Colorado, Arizona, and Georgia through retail stores. The company said an investigation found the issue was caused by human error during the label design-making process.

According to a 12 April announcement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the product poses a threat to those with allergies or severe sensitivity to skipjack tuna, who risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the product.

No illnesses have yet been reported. The last distribution of the product was completed in January 2023.
