Seafood Watch, Ocean Wise programs provide July 2020 updates for a number of species
The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch and Vancouver Aquarium Ocean Wise programs have released July 2020 updates related to their seafood recommendations.
According to a press release from FishChoice, the programs have rolled out a series of updates correlating with several key seafood species.
Seafood Watch announced updates for bream (Gilt Head), Artic char, New Zealand cockle, meagre, giant perch, giant tiger prawn, orange roughy, Atlantic salmon, European sea bass, whiteleg shrimp, Japanese flying squid, and Nile tilapia.
Meanwhile, Ocean Wise provided amendments for bream (Gilt Head), Arctic char, New Zealand cockle, Atlantic herring, meagre, giant perch, giant tiger prawn, orange roughy, salmon (Atlantic, chum, pink, and sockeye), European sea bass, whiteleg shrimp, European sprat, squid (Japanese flying, longfin, Northern shortfin), Nile tilapia, and blue whiting.
The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch recommendations “are updated at least once every three years or as soon as new information is made available, and recommendation updates are released once a month,” the program’s website states. The Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program follows along a similar timeframe, generating its recommendations using the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program methodology and supplying updates once a month.
