Seafood Expo Asia, an annual seafood trade show produced by Diversified Communications, has announced its 2020 event will take place online as a three-day “Seafood Exo Asia Reconnect” experience 17 to 19 November, 2020.

Seafood Expo Asia, which has taken place in the past in Hong Kong, was set to move to Singapore this year, but the coronavirus pandemic put a pause on those plans. Instead, Diversified Communications said it has created “a digital solution to connect seafood buyers throughout Asia with suppliers from around the world.”

“In these unprecedented times, we understand that the need for the industry to stay connected and conduct business is more important than ever,” Diversified Communications Seafood Group Vice President Liz Plizga said. “Until we meet again, face to face, we are pleased to bring a new business opportunity for seafood suppliers from around the world to reconnect with seafood buyers located in Asia, without leaving their office.”

Seafood Expo Asia will continue to be a place where “buyers and suppliers of seafood from around the world come together to network and conduct business in the lucrative Asian market,” Plizga said. This year’s event will include business matchmaking services and a full conference program, in order to augment the show’s status as a meeting place where buyers and sellers of seafood can connect.

The business matchmaking service will facilitate the scheduling of online meetings between providers of seafood and high-volume Asian buyers, including importers, retailers, foodservice vendors, and distributors, who are looking for seafood products as they prepare for the upcoming year, according to Plizga.

The conference program will deliver a forum for the discussion of trends and topics relevant to the Asian seafood market, featuring leading industry experts.

“We have successfully organized business matchmaking meetings over the years at Seafood Expo Asia in Hong Kong,” Plizga said.  “At a time of travel restrictions, we are excited to bring this technology and our know-how in facilitating meetings between suppliers and buyers through a new platform.”
