Seafood and Human Health: The Science Behind Increasing Consumption Sustainably
Information:
Description:
This September, the Seafood Nutrition Partnership will hold its annual State of the Science symposium on the latest in seafood dietary and nutritional studies and the social-economic implications for public health. The 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans called for a doubling of Americans’ consumption of seafood. The updated 2020 guidelines are anticipated to take a further look at the importance of increasing seafood consumption and the omega-3’s they supply. What do the current consumption trends and supplies of seafood and omega-3s look like, what will they look like moving forward into the future and how do we ensure the sustainability of supplies? Join SeafoodSource for a deeper dive into these questions and what increased seafood consumption can mean for both planetary health as well as human health. We’ll be joined by Valerie Agyeman, RD., Communications Manager of Seafood Nutrition Partnership, and Dr. Mike Rust, Science Advisor, Office of Aquaculture, NOAA Fisheries.
