Sea Delight Group joins IPNLF as latest member
The International Pole and Line Foundation (IPNLF) has welcomed North American seafood supplier Sea Delight Group as its latest member, the organization announced on 25 February.
Sea Delight Group, a global distributor, importer, and processor of seafood, will be replacing Sea Delight Europe as a member company with IPNLF, a charity committed to developing and supporting responsible one-by-one tuna fisheries and supply chains. Sea Delight Europe had been a part of IPNLF’s membership network since 2017.
Beginning in 1995, Sea Delight Group has specialized in supplying key North American markets with high-quality frozen and fresh seafood products and, since 2009, the company has been committed to supporting responsible fishing practices, IPNLF said in a press release.
Specifically, Sea Delight has forged strong working relationships and partnerships with international NGOs and other groups, both internally and through its suppliers. The company has also become a part of the web-based traceability program Trace Register, and supports a number of tuna fishery improvement projects (FIPs) globally, including the one-by-one tuna FIP in Indonesia and the handline and longline FIP in Vietnam.
“Having IPNLF membership underlines Sea Delight’s commitment to safeguarding the world’s one-by-one tuna fisheries. One of our long-term sustainability aims is to ensure that these traditional fisheries, along with the fishers and communities connected to them, receive the support necessary to safeguard their futures for many generations to come,” Stephen Fisher, the sustainability director at Sea Delight, said of the company’s IPNLF membership.
“We are extremely pleased that the Sea Delight Group has strengthened its support for one-by-one tuna fisheries by joining our Member network,” added Jeremy Crawford, IPNLF’s Southeast Asia director. “The company is a major advocate for strengthening fisheries management and for establishing robust policies aimed at supporting the sustainability and viability of source fisheries in its supply chains. The IPNLF team looks forward to working even closer with Sea Delight to progress the one-by-one tuna agenda.”
