United Kingdom-based seafood company Saucy Fish Co. has landed several retail contracts heading into the spring of 2017. The company’s Ready-to-Eat range of salmon fillets can now be found in Mariano’s and Hannaford grocery chains within the United States, and its new frozen range has entered U.S.-based supermarket chain Meijer as well as Canada’s Fortinos.

Fortinos, which is owned by Loblaws, now features four frozen Saucy Fish products in its 23 stores across Ontario, Canada, including: Atlantic Salmon with Chilli, Lime & Ginger Dressing, Herb Crusted Atlantic Salmon with Lemon Butter Sauce, Smoked Haddock with Aged Cheddar & Chive Sauce and Tilapia with Salsa Verde.

Meanwhile, Michigan-based Meijer is listing three Saucy Fish frozen fish and sauce products including brand new Tilapia with Korean BBQ Sauce, a flavor profile exclusively developed for the U.S. market following research commissioned by the company into upcoming flavor trends. Select products from Saucy Fish’s frozen range have been on Meijer shelves since 25 March, 2017.

The frozen range was designed and implemented with consumer convenience in mind – the range features quality fish that can go from freezer to fork in half an hour. “In a push to attract a new generation to the freezer aisle in the UK, the CoolBrand recently launched an extensive ‘Frozen Just Got Cooler’ digital campaign, which has reached over 13 million people in just five weeks,” said Saucy Fish in a news release.

“Since expanding into the freezer aisle in late 2016, the Saucy Fish frozen range is now available in ten leading retailers, across three of our key territories,” said Saucy’s International and Business Development Manager, Paul Macis. “We’re on a mission to make frozen cooler, bringing convenience and inspiration to the category. The whole frozen range has been so well received, it’s great to see so many retailers getting on board.”

Three offerings from Saucy Fish’s Ready to Eat range are available in U.S.-based supermarkets Mariano’s and Hannaford. The offerings include Smoked & Roasted Salmon with Sticky Maple Sauce, Sweet Chili Roasted, Salmon with Tomato & Chili Chutney and Steamed Salmon with Lime & Cilantro, all in 5.6-ounce servings. Roundy’s owned Mariano’s introduced the range to its Chicago-area shelves on 27 March, while Ahold Delhaize-owned Hannaford rolled out the range starting in April.

“The Saucy Fish Co.’s range of pre-cooked Ready to Eat products have been sold in the U.S. since 2015 and have proved very popular with consumers looking for a convenient fish product, for on the go consumption. Making these fish and sauce combinations available in single portions seemed like the next logical step,” said Macis. “Both Hannafod and Mariano’s are a great fit for the Saucy brand and values. We’re thrilled to have secured listings with such well respected retailers in the US and look forward to another successful year of international expansion.”

The company is looking to expose its brands and discuss its expansion strategy further at this month’s Seafood Expo Global / Seafood Processing Global event in Brussels, Belgium. Saucy Fish will be exhibiting at the show from 25 to 27 April at booth No. 6-943.
