Arctic Ocean International Trade shrimp recalled in Canada
Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based Arctic Ocean International Trade recalled frozen vannamei shrimp due to undeclared sulfites.
Its recall covers 20-30 count frozen head-on, shell-on vannamei shrimp, which were distributed to retailers in Ontario without a brand name attached. The production date on the 19-pound packages was 16 April, 2023, and they have an expiration date of 15 April, 2025.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued an advisory on 16 August, 2023, regarding the product.
“Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product,” the CFIA said in a statement.
The CFIA previously recalled a different shrimp product in March 2023 due to undeclared ingredients. Day-Lee Foods Frozen Pre-Fried Tempura Shrimp was recalled over concerns of the product containing undeclared egg.
The recall, issued 21 March, covered the Santa Fe Springs, California, U.S.A.-based company’s three-kilogram bags of shrimp, which were sold to hotels, restaurants, and institutions in British Columbia, Canada.
