Norfolk, Virginia-based company QA Supplies will be showcasing its new temperature reading device, the LogTag TRIL-8 Dry Ice “Probe-less” Low Temperature Recorder, at the upcoming Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America event taking place in Boston, Massachusetts from 17 to 19 March, 2019.

Capable of operating, measuring, and storing up to 8,000 temperature readings in environments ranging from -80° Celsius to +40° Celsius (-112° Fahrenheit to +104° Fahrenheit), the LogTag TRIL-8 is particularly compatible with fresh seafood that is flash frozen or subjected to cryofreezing, according to QA Supplies.

“With the goal of maintaining cell integrity by freezing shrimp, fish, and other seafood at -80 degrees Fahrenheit, we understand temperature management is critical in the processing of fresh seafood,” said Russ Holt, the company’s sales and marketing manager, in a press release.

LogTag TRIL-8 was designed as a transit monitoring tool, to be stored alongside items in packaging that incorporates dry ice cooling. It can be “easily configured for recording conditions including delayed start, sampling interval, number of readings, and configuration of conditions to activate the red ‘ALERT’ indicator,” said QA Supplies. Suppliers and distributors can download readings from the device using LogTag Analyzer, which allows for charting, zooming, listing data statistics, and data exporting to other applications, such as Microsoft Excel, the company added.

QA Supplies will also showcase its other equipment and instrumentation for data logging, temperature measurement, food and water quality testing, controllers, monitors, alarms, and more at SENA19 at Booth #381.

“Our business offers solutions for seafood buyers involved in retail, restaurant, catering, foodservice, and processing. Our customers have expressed the importance of providing fresh seafood to consumers, and we look forward to enhancing food quality using our instrumentation within the seafood industry,” Holt said.

Founded in 1995, QA Supplies’ offers thousands of products designed to meet the needs of professionals who monitor, control, or evaluate environmental conditions to ensure the quality of fresh produce and other perishables, including meat, poultry, seafood, and dairy. Categories of products offered by the company include thermometers, water quality testers, air analyzers, insulated covers, and more.
