Richibucto-Village, New Brunswick, Canada-based Oyster Kings Inc. is recalling several oyster products due to possible salmonella contamination.

The recalled products were sold in Ontario and Quebec and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

“This recall was triggered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency test results,” the agency said.

Recalled oysters include the brand names Acadian Gold, Acadian Pearl, Baccarat, Capitaine Barney, Coffret De L’Acadie, Honeymoon, No. 69, Nuit Blanche, Opus, and Point G.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with consuming the oysters.

The oysters may have been sold clerk-served from counters with or without a label or coding, CFIA said.

“Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased the affected product are advised to contact their retailer,” CFIA said.

Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

The CFIA did not report other oysters that needed to be recalled due to salmonella. However, in March, an outbreak of norovirus led to a nationwide recall of oysters.

On 20 March, Bowser, British Columbia, Canada-based Stellar Bay Shellfish recalled some of its oysters after the CFIA investigated a norovirus illness outbreak. Not long after, Vancouver, British Columbia-based Pacific Rim Shellfish recalled oysters nationwide due to possible norovirus contamination. Taylor Shellfish Canada, doing business as Fanny Bay Oysters, also recalled certain Taylor Shellfish Canada ULC brand oysters from the marketplace due to possible norovirus contamination at the time.

“There have been reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products,” CFIA said, without providing additional details.
