Merida, Yucatan, Mexico-based Orca Seafoods announced on 17 March during Seafood Expo North America 2019 that the company plans to open a new office in Miami, Florida, U.S.A. in order to launch their product in the U.S.

The new launch comes with a change in name to Artisan Catch – which is coupled with new logo designs and the launch of a new website. The company is also expanding its product lines, with a focus on sustainable small-scale fisheries.

“As part of our focus on business development, I believe it is appropriate to rebrand our company to more specifically reflect our mission which is to foster traditional fishing practices and production strategies that preserve species and the environment,” Mauricio Orellana, managing director for Artisan Catch, said in a release.  “We are very excited about sharing our catch with the U.S. market with our new company name; Artisan Catch, because it allows us to better represent our business to the seafood industry.”

Artisan Catch is a restaurant-supported fishery, that connects small-scale fisheries to chefs and restaurants, with a focus on artisanal fisheries. Every species the company offers is indigenous to North America and the United States, and is part of a fishery improvement project (FIP) or other sustainability program. Species include callinectes blue crab, octopus, grouper, red snapper, California halibut, and white seabass.

The company is introducing its new branding throughout the 2019 Seafood Expo North Ameriac at Booth #1805, located in the Mexican Pavilion.
