Norwegian salmon prices rose again the ninth week of 2023. Prices are up NOK 5.48 (USD 0.52, EUR 0.49), or 4.65 percent, week-over-week, according to the Nasdaq Salmon Index.

Prices for Norwegian salmon have reached close to all-time highs in recent weeks.

The weighted average index of weekly sales prices and volumes of fresh Atlantic superior salmon, head-on gutted – reported by a panel of Norwegian salmon exporters and salmon producers – found the average per-kilogram price of Norwegian salmon reached NOK 123.30 (USD 11.61, EUR 10.99) for the ninth week of 2023.

That price is up significantly from the NOK 85.27 (USD 7.99, EUR 7.57) average per-kilogram price Norwegian salmon fetched the same week of 2022.

Fish Pool reported total sales volume for Norwegian salmon exporters in the last week of February 2023 was flat, with an increase of 58 metric tons (MT) over the prior week.  The modest increase, however, is down 2,608 MT from the corresponding week of 2022. Over the last five weeks, the average export volume has decreased 9,729 MT, or 11 percent, in comparison to last year.
