National Fish and Seafood partners with Minh Phu Seafood for BAP shrimp procurement

National Fish and Seafood, a U.S.-based division of Pacific Andes Group, announced on Monday, 7 March at at Seafood Expo North America the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Minh Phu Seafood to seek four-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification for 800 shrimp farms in Vietnam.

“We are proud of leading this initiative and excited to see this milestone become a template for small-scale farms around the world to thrive, instead of being pushed out of the market due to increasing attention to certification and verification of important standards,” said James Baros, sustainability manager at National Fish & Seafood. “This is a win for the small farmers, buyers, and the industry at large.”

Also at SENA, Matlaw’s, a seafood product line owned by National Fish and Seafood, announced on Sunday, 6 March that it will launch a big bag value line featuring larger, 2 lb. portions of its seafood products.

Matlaw’s big bag value line products will be packaged in a clear, 2 lb. bag featuring Spanish language bilingual copy. The company’s offerings including shrimp jalapeño mac n cheese bites, panko breaded tilapia fillets, calamari bites, panko breaded grouper fillets, jalapeño breaded pollock tenders, popcorn shrimp, and seafood cakes. Matlaw’s has obtained more than 4,000 store placements nationwide for the new line.
