Loki Fish recalls salmon lox over listeria concerns
Loki Fish Company is recalling four-ounce packages of its Keta Salmon Lox due to the potential it is contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.-based supplier is recalling the lox after the possibility of contamination was discovered during a U.S Food and Drug Administration inspection at its co-packer, Felix Custom Smoking in Monroe, Washington, Loki said in a press release.
Loki submitted samples of the Keta Lox to Micro-Chem Laboratories for testing. While it awaits results, it has ceased production, sales, and distribution of the lox and “will continue the investigation as to what caused the problem,” the supplier said.
No illnesses have been reported to date as a result of consumption of the Loki products.
The Keta Salmon Lox was distributed through Cherry Sprout Produce in Portland, Oregon, along with Central Co-op and Pacific Coast Harvest in Seattle, Washington. It was also sold at the University District and West Seattle Farmers Markets in Washington.
The lox is packaged in a four-ounce plastic package on a coated board, and is labeled as “Wild Keta Lox, Loki Fish Co., Seattle, WA.” There are no best-by dates on the package.
