Julie Decker and Hannah Lindoff join GSA board; Hazel Wade named Loch Duart's operations manager

To keep up to date with movement and job shifts across the seafood industry, SeafoodSource is compiling a weekly round-up of the latest industry job moves.

-Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) announced on 29 March, Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF) Executive Director Julie Decker and Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute’s (ASMI) Senior Director of Global Marketing and Strategy Hannah Lindoff have joined GSA's board of directors.

“We’re delighted by the addition of both Julie and Hannah to the GSA board of directors,” GSA CEO Brian Perkins said. “They come with a wealth of knowledge in commercial fishing, seafood processing, business development and marketing that will serve our board well.”

-On 28 March, 2023 Laird, U.K.-based salmon-farming company Loch Duart announced the promotion of Hazel Wade to become operations manager.

“It’s rare to have a job where you get to see the results of your work grow in front of you, from tiny eggs into fit, healthy adult salmon. I’m thrilled to take on this role and to work with our dedicated farm teams to care for our salmon in this beautiful environment," Wade said in a press release. "I’m looking forward to continuing to expand Loch Duart’s reputation for raising world-class salmon.” 

-Seafood Industry Australia (SIA) announced it has selected Jasmin Kelly as its new stakeholder engagement manager.

“I love challenges and I love working with teams. I’m proud to be part of an organization that is committed to caring for the environment and looking after its members, ultimately resulting in products of the highest quality and best value. Facilitating the interaction and engagement of SIA’s stakeholders is incredibly rewarding work,” she said, according to SIA’s LinkedIn.

- Beaver Street Fisheries announced Mario Pullara will be joining the company to help boost the company sales and business. Prior to joining the Jacksonville, Florida U.S.A.-based frozen seafood company, Pullara worked at Aqua Star, Eastern Fish and Tampa Maid Foods, bringing more than a decade worth of industry experience. 

- Nova Seas Director Aino Olaisen joined the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI) as the chair of its board of directors, the company announced in a press release on 28 March.

The landscape in which we operate is continuously changing, whether in the water where we raise our fish, or in day-to-day business operations. I truly believe that the only way we can build a sustainable future for the industry with longevity, is by working together to share experiences and knowledge so we can continue producing healthy food in the most sustainable way possible,” Olaisen said in a press release. “The challenges we face today, from climate change to fish welfare, are simply too big to solve alone. We must collaborate to find the most impactful solutions, and GSI offers a proven model for its members to help identify and implement sustainability improvements and provide a unified voice to stakeholders to share our journey.”
