How Seafood Buyers and Suppliers Can Combat IUU Fishing: Lessons and New Opportunities

Recent stories and investigations are revealing and heightening attention to labor issues, on-the-water human rights, and illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in seafood supply chains. 

Large scale illegal fishing undermines fish stocks, puts fishers at risk, and is unfair to fishers and suppliers operating legally. The ideal industry response and solution eliminates IUU from entire fisheries, not just individual supply chains. 

This webinar organized by the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership will highlight collective action by retailers, suppliers, and fishers in different fisheries around the world. The webinar will discuss the tools and approaches used, distill lessons, and provide updates on current anti-IUU work and due diligence practices, including in distant water fleets fishing for squid.
