Greenland Seafood expands into veggie alternatives
Saying that it has “taken inspiration from the current craze for plant-based protein products,” frozen fish specialist Greenland Seafood has expanded its product offering with a new vegetable frozen range.
Targeted at both retail and foodservice markets, the rice-protein based range offers alternative products to fish while incorporating the core range and the marketing codes of the fish bestsellers in the frozen section, the company said in a press release.
“This new range will allow our group to meet the demand of vegetarian or flexitarian consumers and to expand our penetration rate to households that do not consume fish,” it said.
Consisting of breaded veggie fingers, veggie burgers with vegetables, breaded veggie fish cakes, and breaded veggie portions will be displaying the new range will feature on Greenland Seafood’s stand at Seafood Expo Global, taking place in Barcelona, Spain, from 26 to 28 April, 2022.
Greenland Seafood, which has factories in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, and Wimille, France, said it will look to expand the range in the coming months.
The company is part of the Eight Fifty Food Group, which employs more than 8,000 people at 21 production sites in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Continental Europe.
