Global processing innovator Cabinplant to celebrate 50th anniversary in Belgium
Global processing solutions provider Cabinplant plans to celebrate 50 years in business this spring during Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, taking place in Brussels, Belgium from 7 to 9 May.
The company, which specializes in innovating equipment for fish and seafood processing, will showcase some of its leading creations during the expo, including its Quattro Batcher and Continuous Liquid Filler.
Capable of weighing and batching large portions of seafood and fish (up to 30 kilograms) with minimum give-away, the Quattro Batcher is designed for pelagics and creates four individually weighed portions that are collected into a single batch. The machine possesses a reject feature that allows for underweight portions to be replaced to make the batch weight precise, according to Cabinplant, meaning within a margin of 100 grams for a batch of 20 kilograms, depending on the product.
“For the food manufacturer, it means that he can deliver a whole pallet of batches that are very homogeneous in weight, thus reducing give-away. As the individual batches are within narrow tolerances, the need for control weighing is reduced and, in the end, the individual customers receive very similar batches and portions,” Cabinplant said of the Quattro Batcher in a release.
The machine has a compact and optimized footprint, and is able to fit into existing production lines, the company added. Operation of the unit is conducted over an intuitive interface, which includes a 15-inch touchscreen with pre-determined recipes and settings. The capacity of batches that can be produced by the Quattro Batcher is up to 30 kilograms and 14 batches per minute for box or carton packaging, Cabinplant noted.
Meanwhile, the Continuous Liquid Filler (CLF) works to established precise pre- or final-filling of liquids like tomato sauce, oil and brine, soups, or marinades into containers such as cans or glass jars with food like mussels, herring, and more. The invention is a “high-speed solution that increases capacity and constitutes a flexible and economical alternative to, for example, a major investment in a rotary piston filling line,” Cabinplant said.
The CLF can produce up to 300 glasses per minute for a single processing line and can handle liquids containing small particles, without spillage. Moreover, the solution can accommodate “on-the-fly adjustment of the dose to secure that the weight of each container is on target,” according to the company.
“The Continuous Liquid Filler has great potential for clients looking to speed their production up and to decrease their TCO,” Cabinplant Chief Commercial Officer Michael Schmidt Falck said. “We look very much forward to present our new solutions alongside our well-known products at the SPG [expo] as it provides a unique opportunity to get invaluable feedback from existing and potential customers.”
Founded in 1969 in Haarby, Denmark, by entrepreneurs Hans Clausen and Vagn Hansen, Cabinplant has grown to become a leading supplier of processing lines for fish and seafood, as well as fruits and vegetables. For more than 45 years, the company was privately owned. In 2016, the American industrial company CTB, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company, took over 80 percent of Cabinplant’s shares to back up further expansion including development of new products and partnerships.
“Innovation was the driving force behind the foundation of Cabinplant in 1969 and half a century later, it is still innovation, curiosity, and entrepreneurship that keep us going. With an open mind and a willingness to generate results, we develop sustainable solutions for the benefit of consumers and the food industry,” CEO Ralf Astrup said.
Cabinplant will be exhibiting at Seafood Expo Global in Hall 4 at Stand #5915.
