The Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) has announced the reelection of its board of directors and officers for 2020.

The board, made up of executives from a number of different organizations and companies with shares of the fishery’s total allowable catch, will continue to be helmed by Mikel Durham of American Seafoods. Doug Christensen of Arctic Storm Holding Company will serve again as the group’s treasurer, secretary, and vice chair.

GAPP Chief Executive Officer Craig Morris lauded the board in a press release announcing its status.

“A debt of gratitude is due to these leaders who have taken time out of their full-time jobs to help helm this critical marketing organization. I am grateful that the membership saw fit to re-elect the current board to continue to chart the course for GAPP next year and into the future,” Morris said.

The board also approved a USD 4 million (EUR 3.59 million) budget for the coming year, slightly more than this year’s. Budget details will be decided at the upcoming board of directors meeting in March 2020.

“GAPP has created real momentum building awareness and creating innovative applications for Wild Alaska Pollock during this year,” said GAPP Chair Mikel Durham. “Our primary focus has been in North American but will expand to include Europe and other markets shortly. I’m thankful for my fellow Board Members and our market facing partners – this perfect protein is beginning to gain the fame it so deserves!”

The entire GAPP board of directors list can be found on the group’s website. The collective is dedicated to the marketing of wild Alaskan pollock, focusing on the North American, European, and Japanese markets.
