Restaurant chains are looking to fish sandwiches to give them a Lenten-season boost.

Alaska pollock is the fish of choice for many of the limited-time sandwich offerings, but some operators are using flounder and other fish.

Jack in the Box’s new Deluxe Fish Sandwich features two fillets of wild Alaska pollock covered in crispy panko bread crumbs along with cheese, tomato and tartar sauce, per Chew Boom.

Buffalo Wild Wings’ new beer-battered fish sandwich is topped with shredded iceberg lettuce and tartar sauce with a side of coleslaw. It is available for a limited time.

Popeyes is launching a Cajun Flounder Sandwich for USD 4.49 (EUR 3.70). Utilizing wild Pacific flounder, the fillet is seasoned in a blend of Popeyes’ Cajun seasoning, dusted in a crispy southern coating and fried.

And Bojangles is bringing back its Bojangler fish sandwich, made with wild Alaskan pollock.

Meanwhile, full-service restaurant chain TGI Friday’s is running a “Lent Fridays” promoting through 3 April. Besides Fish & Chips, it’s also offering Dragon-Glazed Salmon, Fried Shrimp, Simply Grilled Salmon, and Caesar Salad with Salmon, the restaurant chain said in a press release.

“Our Fish Fridays menu provides variety throughout the entire Lenten season,” TGI Friday’s Chief Experience Officer Sara Bittorf said.
