Eliminating Forced Labor in U.S. Supply Chains
Information:
Description:
The United States is ramping up enforcement efforts against forced labor, including its use in seafood supply chains. In October 2018, the U.S. Department of Justice launched the Interagency Task Force on Human Trafficking in Fishing in International Waters, an effort to improve prevention and enforcement to curtail to forced labor. Join Katrina Nakamura, founder of the Sustainability Incubator, as she gives an overview of potential new rules of operation for U.S. companies that may emerge as a result of the task force. Nakamura recently created the Safe Labor Screen, a framework for seafood buyers, sellers and traders to identify potential hotspots of labor issues and tactically take corrective actions. In the webinar, Nakamura will share takeaways from other sectors’ approaches to ending forced labor and outline a step-by-step method seafood companies can use to prepare for potential government inspections.
