The Global Aquaculture Alliance’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) program has awarded another company with one of its highest achievements – the 4-star status.

Blumar Seafoods (Salmones Blumar SA) has earned 4-star BAP recognition for its salmon farming operations in Chile, meaning 100 percent of its salmon production – across processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills – aligns with BAP aquaculture standards.

Achieving the distinction further establishes Blumar’s “strong commitment to sustainable farming practices, high-quality product and proper management of Chile’s natural resources,” according to the company.

“We are pleased that our customers in the U.S., Europe and across the world have supported our sustainability work by recognizing the value of sustainable aquaculture certification in the marketplace. Blumar will continue improve the sustainability of our products and operations through our work with GAA, the Global Salmon Initiative and our other partners,” Blumar said in a news release.

Blumar Seafoods will be exhibiting at this year's Seafood Expo North American/Seafood Processing North America (SENA) event at Booth No. 313.
