Century Pacific Food introduces new plant-based tuna analog
Century Pacific Food, Inc (CNPF) is making its first forays into plant-based seafood analogs with a new product: unMEAT Fish-Free Tuna.
CNPF created the product, the company said, to replicate the taste, texture, and appearance of tuna. The ingredients consist of 100 percent plant-based products and non-GMO soy, natural oils, and flavors.
Within two months of its launch, the new product is already being distributed to more than 500 retail outlets in the U.S., Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates, where Carrefour is a prime retail vendor.
In addition, unMEAT Fish-Free Tuna is available online through specialty vegan e-commerce stores GTFO and Vejii.
"UnMEAT Fish-Free Tuna is a gamechanger. Much of the focus in the industry has been on meat alternatives. On the other hand, seafood alternatives remain a wide-open space where we see pent-up demand from consumers looking for healthier and more sustainable options at an accessible price," CNPF Chief Operating Officer Greg Banzon said.
Banzon said he's optimistic about the potential and performance of the unMEAT Fish-free Tuna.
"UnMEAT has been actively participating in international expos and roadshows. This new product has been drumming up much excitement with retailers all over the world who have tried our samples. We're currently working on increasing its retail footprint in key markets abroad," Banzon said.
