American Seafoods hires Carolina Nascimento for sales push; Ingvild Tryggestad joins Mowi as quality coordinator

- Carolina Nascimento (pictured) has joined the sales team at Seattle Washington, U.S.A.-based American Seafoods. Nascimento is located in São Paulo, Brazil, and will work with American Seafoods to integrate Alaska seafood to enter the Latin American market.
“Although I’ve only been at American Seafoods, a global leader in sustainable seafood products and the leading frozen at-sea processor of wild Alaska [products], a few weeks, I’m really excited about the opportunities in front of one of the cleanest fisheries in the world, the wild Alaska pollock, in the LATAM market,” Nascimento told SeafoodSource. “I believe there’s a lot of potential of increasing wild Alaska seafood exports to Latin America, especially wild Alaska pollock. The seafood industry is constantly evolving in the region and globally the demand for wild Alaska pollock products is growing. LATAM, in particular, is always looking into developing new products, offering more convenience and confidence to the consumers to prepare a wider variety of seafood species at home, as well as provide chefs with smart seafood solutions and steady and reliable supply for many different types of cuisines and restaurants.”
Prior to joining American Seafoods, Nascimento worked with São Paulo-based consulting firm RiverGlobal working closely with the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute. She brings more than 15 years of experience of marketing, trade promotion, and regulatory affairs to American Seafoods, and worked in the seafood sector in North, South, and Central America.
“I’m always in favor of innovation. I sincerely believe that if you want different results, you need to do different things. So, here we have American Seafoods investing in a new region, and now, we are going to help and continue to educate our Latin American partners to do the same, do new things, so we can all grow together,” Nascimento said.
- Ingvild Tryggestad has joined Mowi as a quality coordinator. According to her LinkedIn profile, Tryggestad began the role in July 2023. Prior to joining Mowi, Tryggestad worked as a fish health technician and annotator for Trondheim, Norway-based Optoscale. She also worked as an aquaculture technician and lab assistant at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
- AquaGen aquaculture genetic material company announced that Kristin Meyer has been appointed as the director of supply security. Prior to joining AquaGen, which is headquartered in Trondheim, Norway, Meyer worked in supply management at TINA SA.
“To deliver what they need when they need it is a promise we make to our customers. When we now, through our appointment of a director for supply security, expand the management team with special expertise in supply chain management, we are well equipped for an even more holistic approach to our planning work around the needs and supply of our products,” AquaGen CEO Knut Røflo said in a release.
- The managing director of Thai Union's alternative proteins business, Maaren Geraets, announced on LinkedIn that he has left the company.
Gereats held the role since May 2021, and during that time oversaw the launch of Thai Union brand OMG Meat's line of dumplings made with a plant-based shrimp analog in markets across Thailand. Gereats said in his post that he plans to continue on in a role that helps drive the "Future of Food."
