Anova launches chilled line at Seafood Expo Global

Anova Seafood is rolling out a premium chilled seafood range for retail at Seafood Expo Global in Brussels, Belgium, 24 to 26 April.

The ’s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands-based seafood supplier (located in Hall 6, stand #1023) said the new range includes ready-to-eat fish, fish for the barbecue, fish as a meal component, and fish as an ingredient.

“We see consumer demand increasing for products with a transparent and simple supply chain. We simply want to eat good food and know where our products are from,” said Arjan Oosterlee, commercial director at Anova Seafood, in a press release. “This range answers to the consumers’ needs.”

Anova is also launching a new range of “good-value” products under the brand name Del Mare.

Anova supplies a variety of fresh and frozen seafood, including Lake Victoria perch from Tanzania, cod from the Northeast Atlantic Ocean, shrimp and pangasius from Vietnam, tuna from the Western and Central Pacific, and wild salmon from Alaska. 

“We need to manage where our products are from, how they are produced and under which circumstances,” said Rens Elderkamp, strategic sourcing manager at Anova Seafood. “This means we buy our products directly at the source and manage the individual supply chains through our global network.”

Anova is also releasing its Corporate Responsibility Report at SEG.

“In this year’s report, Anova elaborates on transparency as one of the key pillars in the sustainability debate,” the company said.

In 2016, Anova invested in a new production line for its Marine Stewardship Council cod production. The supplier now produces year-round, high quality cod products for the chilled and fresh counter, the supplier said. Anova also invested in the expansion of its joint venture production facility in Vietnam for its MSC albacore and MSC yellowfin tuna production. Anova’s MSC yellowfin tuna for the frozen counter is produced in cooperation with partner Pacifical.
