Aldi Australia launches seafood items ahead of Christmas
Aldi Australia is rolling out several new frozen seafood items and bringing back customer favorites in order to capitalize on the lead-up to the Christmas season.
“Each Christmas, Aldi work closely with their business partners to ensure shoppers have access to the best seafood at competitive prices – including the return of the much-loved Lobster Tails Extra-Large Australian Tiger Prawns, and Extra-Large Scallops with Maple-Flavored Bacon,” the retailer said in a press release.
Aldi’s 2022 seafood selection has been “carefully curated for summer entertaining, with quality, convenience, and price top of mind for Aussie families,” Aldi Australia Shopping Expert Kylie Warnke said.
Seventy-four percent of Australians expect spending to significantly increase in the eight weeks leading up to Christmas, with the average cost increase expected to be 74.7 percent, Aldi Australia said.
“By making the simple switch to Aldi in the next two months, the average family can save up to AUD 660 [USD 428, EUR 427]," the company said.
Aldi’s seafood range starts at AUD 4.99 (USD 3.24, EUR 3.23), “with every product easily prepared, making it perfect for those that want to delight family and friends without any hassle,” Warnke said.
“There’s a seafood option to suit every budget in this range and we are confident every product will have guests impressed and asking for seconds, or even thirds," Warnke said.
This year, Aldi is featuring new products: Ocean Royale Lobster Canapés and Ocean Royale Frozen Australian Tiger Prawns Extra Large 1 kilogram – Wild caught in Australia. The Canapes include premium lobster meat with cream cheese and herb filling in a puff pastry.
“A sophisticated meal doesn’t have to break the bank, and we’re delighted to make wild-caught lobsters more affordable for the Aussie shopper with this brand-new product,” Warnke said. "At just AUD 4.99, this budget friendly canapé option will wow the taste buds and impress guests on Christmas day.”
The Tiger Prawns “suit our Aussie summer perfectly and means no one needs to cook up a storm in a hot kitchen for hours if that’s not on their Christmas wishlist,” Warnke said.
Aldi is also featuring Royale Frozen Scallops with Herbs de Provence Butter, which are “a great entree option ... perfect served alone or with a fresh side salad,” Warnke said. Its Ocean Royale Extra Large Scallops with Maple Flavored Bacon, consisting of a 6-pack weighing 270 grams retails for AUD 12.99 (USD 8.42, EUR 8.40) and offers “decadence on the plate without the decadent price tag,” Warnke said.
It is also rolling out Ocean Royale Lobster Tails with Garlic Butter Glaze (two-pack/380 grams) and Ocean Royale Atlantic Salmon Side with Toscana Style Herb Crust (700 grams), which is more than enough for six servings, according to Warnke.
Meanwhile, Aldi Australia’s Ocean Royale Salmon Wellington with Cheese and Dill Sauce provides a “super simple way to provide that extra wow factor for a Christmas dinner,” Warnke said.
The retailer is also featuring Ocean Royale Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Canapés, The Fishmonger Smoked Ocean Trout, The Fishmonger Rosemary Parmesan Hoki Fillets, The Fishmonger Smoked Salmon, and The Fishmonger Salmon Gravlax with Mustard and Dill Dressing.
