An extension has been granted to U.S. prosecutors looking to indict Carlos Rafael of Carlos Seafood.

Handed down on Friday, the extent of the extension was not disclosed, according to SouthCoast Today. Rafael, who was arrested on 26 February based on allegations and charges of conspiracy and falsifying records, was released on bail on 2 March with a USD 1 million bond. The conditions of his release include Rafael wearing a monitoring bracelet and submitting to a nightly curfew.

It is alleged that Rafael intentionally misinformed the government for years regarding the amount and species of fish caught by his fleet, which is more than 40 vessels strong, in an effort to evade federal fishing quotas.
